Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi — A Public Servant Bound By His Vows
In an era where trust and commitment have become rare commodities within public service, Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha continues to stand tall — a public servant bound by his vows.

Since assumption of office in October 2023, as the country’s foremost Energy Commission’s Boss, Nigerians have watched him diligently go about his duties with utmost intentionality and adequate commitment — matching every word with action and bringing to life, every of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope blueprint on energy conservation, efficiency, renewal and sustainability.

Within the last two years, Nigeria has stood before many nations of the world— on global stages making strategic collaborations, proffering solutions to global energy challenges, developing new energy strategies and standards for the global markets. Dr. Mustapha has been in the forefront of these collaborations, strengthening global partnerships and promoting innovative solutions to address global energy needs.
The recent partnership with LONGi — the world’s largest solar panel manufacturers to boost the country’s local solar manufacturing sector is yet another remarkable effort of the Energy Commission of Nigeria in the last two years. This partnership not only strengthens Nigeria’s dedication to clean energy innovation and local manufacturing but also strengthens the country’s renewable energy ecosystem.
The Energy Commission of Nigeria within the last two years has also made efforts for an accelerated energy access nationwide and enhanced energy planning at state level via a memorandum of understanding(MoU) signed between the Energy Commission of Nigeria, China Energy Engineering Corporation Ltd and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum(NGF). This agreement also includes the Establishment of Nigeria-China Renewable Energy Research Center, development of Green Energy infrastructures, etc to provide improved energy security, attract investments and generate sustainable employment opportunities among other benefits.
In August 2024, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi initiated the nearly-complete Africa’s first Barefoot Renewable Energy College at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State through the Energy Commission of Nigeria — an initiative aimed at improving the lives of people through renewable energy. Educating, training and certifying all classes of Nigerians in renewable energy technologies to improve their employability and reduce unemployment, provide sustainable livelihood, promote local community servicing through renewable energy, etc.
Dr. Mustapha steering the wheel of the Energy Commission within the last two years has made access to power and portable water in rural areas and disadvantaged communities a priority via the installations of Mini-Grid and Solar-Powered boreholes across the Local Areas in the country.
In September 2025, following the commencement of the installation of a 7MW solar project at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, a close alumni of Bayero University Kano reached out to commend Dr. Mustapha’s efforts to see to the actualization of a 24/7 power availability in the hospital, while sharing pitiable and gory experiences she had encountered in the hospital before now— power epilepsy, endangering patients’ lives and stalling medical students’ learning processes. Undoubtedly, this story is same across hospitals in major parts of the country, hence the Renewed Hope administration’s resolve to bring an end to this nightmare through the Energy Commission of Nigeria and Dr. Mustapha is resolute to the actualization of this vision.
The 7MW solar power in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) isn’t a lone project neither is it designed for the hospital alone, it is just one of the numerous Renewed Hope Initiatives to see to the actualization of 24/7 power availability in federal hospitals and academic institutions across the country. It will be replicated in every federal institution—hospitals and universities across the country.
Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi— bound by his vows to the nation continues to stand tall owing to his purposeful, committed and exemplary discharge of public duties. From his two years antecedents in office and track-records so far, he has shown a resolute commitment to achieve every vision of Mr. President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in sustainable energy development as captured in the ‘Renewed Hope’ blueprint for a better Nigeria and for the good of Nigerians.
