JUST IN: Senator Ogembe Suspended by PDP for Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Kogi Central Senatorial District Caretaker Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Ahmed Ogembe from the party with immediate effect, citing allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct. The decision, announced on August 22, 2025, follows reports that Ogembe directed PDP leadership in Okene Local Government Area to collapse the party’s structure into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to a letter signed by Hon. Anthony Akuvada Momoh, Zonal Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, the allegations against Ogembe include “gross misconduct, betrayal of trust, and deliberate acts capable of undermining the interest and survival of our great party in Kogi State.” The letter further states, “It has been reliably established, from credible reports and corroborated accounts, that you convened and directed the PDP leadership in Okene Local Government Area to collapse the PDP structure in Okene into the ADC.”

The committee described these actions as a “clear violation” of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended), specifically sections 58(1) and 59. “These infractions are weighty, strike at the foundation of party loyalty, and cannot be ignored by the leadership of the party,” the letter reads.
During his suspension, Ogembe is barred from participating in PDP meetings, activities, or decision-making processes, holding himself out as a party leader or representative, and interfering with party structures or functions at any level within Kogi State. The suspension remains in effect pending the conclusion of investigations by the PDP Disciplinary Committee.
