In the early hours of today, residents of Eika-Adagu community in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State woke up to a horrific discovery, the lifeless body of an unidentified young woman, apparently murdered in a suspected ritual act along Okene-Lokoja highway, Camp 2 before Itakpe Junction.

According to eyewitness accounts, the victim’s breasts and private parts had been gruesomely removed, and her body was dumped by the roadside.

The Camp 2 community youth PRO, who spoke to our correspondent, confirmed that the woman was not a resident of the community. He described the scene as shocking and strongly suggested it was linked to ritual activity, given the specific mutilation of sensitive body parts.

The youth leader also recalled two recent similar incidents involving the killing of two commercial motorcyclists (okada riders), whose motorcycles were stolen after the attacks. He urged the government to urgently install streetlights in the community, stating that improved lighting would help deter such evil acts that thrive under the cover of darkness.

The body has since been recovered by the police and deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) have been unsuccessful, as calls to the command’s official lines went unanswered.

This incident has heightened fears among residents, who are calling for swift investigation and enhanced security measures in the area.
