The Kogi State Police Command has presented cheques totaling N52,885,344.83 to the families of 27 officers who died in active service, under the Group Life Assurance and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Schemes. The presentation took place in Lokoja on Thursday, as announced by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya.
Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Baba Mallam Alhaji, handed over the cheques. Aya stated that the gesture reflects IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s commitment to supporting officers’ families.
DCP Baba urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, emphasizing the initiative’s role in honoring fallen officers. “The sacrifices of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten,” he said, reaffirming the police leadership’s dedication to improving welfare for serving, retired, and deceased officers’ families.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the funds would ease their financial burdens and support their families’ upkeep.
