Troops of the Nigerian Army, alongside vigilantes and local hunters, launched a daring rescue operation to free two seminarians abducted from Ivianakpodi Minor Seminary in Agenebode, Edo State.

The mission, initiated at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, targeted a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Alarke village, beyond the Awara area of Kogi State, following credible intelligence.

A source told Zagazola Makama that the joint team encountered resistance. “While moving behind the hills of Alarke, the team ran into an ambush by the kidnappers.

A hunter, Mohammed Abubakar, 30, sustained gunshot wounds to his right thigh and was immediately evacuated to Cross Nations Consultant Hospital, Lokoja, for treatment,” the source said.

Despite the ambush, the troops are continuing efforts to rescue the seminarians unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators.

The military commended the bravery of the vigilantes and hunters, emphasizing their critical role in the operation.

As efforts intensify in Kogi to secure the seminarians’ release and bring the culprits to justice, the collaboration between security forces and local communities remains vital in tackling crime.
