2027: INEC Uploads Bello Otaru as NDC Candidate for Adavi/Okehi Seat
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the details of Bello Otaru Abduljafaru, Chief Executive Officer of J Casuals, as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The formal listing of Otaru on the INEC portal confirms that the NDC has completed its nomination process for the constituency, which covers Adavi and Okehi local government areas of Kogi State.
Otaru will slug it out with candidates of the major political parties already in the fray. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has presented Engr. Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf, a former Commissioner for Works in Kogi State, as its flag bearer. Yusuf, who resigned from the state cabinet to pursue the ambition, has been campaigning on a platform of youth empowerment, infrastructure development and closer grassroots representation.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has also settled for a familiar face. Former House of Representatives member Hon. Abdulrahaman Badamasuiy, who represented the constituency between 2011 and 2015, emerged as the PDP candidate through a consensus arrangement. Badamasuiy has pledged to leverage his previous legislative experience to attract development projects back to Adavi and Okehi.
For the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prince Kabiru Onimisi Atta has emerged as the party’s candidate for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency. His emergence further intensifies the contest as the major parties complete their nominations.
With the APC, PDP, ADC and now the NDC all fielding candidates, the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency is expected to witness intense campaigning in the months ahead.
As CEO of J Casuals, Otaru enters the race with a private-sector background. His supporters are already positioning him as a fresh alternative in a field that includes experienced politicians and former public office holders.
The upload of his details marks an important milestone for the NDC in Kogi Central and signals that the political battle for the Adavi/Okehi seat is gradually taking definite shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
