Air Peace has appointed Captain James Adaviruku Onipe as its new Director of Flight Operations (DFO), marking a significant leadership promotion for the experienced pilot.
Captain Onipe, who is of Ebira origin, currently serves as the airline’s Embraer 145 Fleet Manager, Trainer and Check Airman and will now oversee the airline’s flight operations in his new role effective November 1, 2026.
Ebira4real Media confirms that he joined Air Peace as a Captain in July 2021. Prior to that, he served as Captain with Dana Air from March 2017 to July 2021, Senior First Officer at Aero Contractors of Nigeria Ltd from December 2013 to April 2017, and First Officer at Air Nigeria Development Company from May 2011 to April 2012. He also held a part-time role as CEO of JemGlobal Express Ltd between December 2014 and June 2017.
According to Simaero, James Onipe, Fleet Manager ERJ-145 at Air Peace Limited, has been training with the organisation since 2017. Over the years, his training experience at Simaero Johannesburg has supported his progression into multiple roles and continues to deliver value, driven by the expertise and engagement of their training teams.
Captain Onipe holds a First Class Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Covenant University (2016–2021) and earlier studied Integrated Science at Ahmadu Bello University (1999–2003).
The appointment follows the elevation of the outgoing Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustin Kamano and Air Peace’s confidence in Onipe’s expertise and track record in training, fleet management and operational standards.
Air Peace also appointed Captain Paul-Ugochukwu, a Boeing 777 Type Rating Instructor and Check Airman, as Chief Pilot (CP) following the elevation of former Chief Pilot, Captain Martin Okunpolor, to higher position within the Air Peace Group.
